December Speed Round

If you’re like me, you take one look at a page full of text and run the other way. Don’t worry my lazy friends, I got your back.

Well, it’s finally gone—2017 has finally left the building and I have mixed feelings. Personally, it’s actually been a really good year. Nationally (over here in the USA), it’s a different story, but I don’t have enough time to unpack THAT right now. What I CAN tell you is that it’s been good reading month! November was pretty weak and I really wanted to kick it up a notch in December, which I did! Several great books and even one I couldn’t finish (I’m looking at you Dividing Eden).

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Read it? YES!

This was such a cute book!! I loved all the magic and the mind-bending unpredictability. At first I was worried that all the hype would make this a disappointing read, but I was wrong. Definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for something fun to escape into. Can’t wait for the sequel!!

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Read it? Yes?

Well, this book was crazy. Personally I found it completely predictable, but the angst and drama is top notch and I strangely found myself enjoying it. If you’re looking for something entertaining to pass the time, this book is definitely for you.

Defy by Sara B. Larson

Read it? Yes!

Speaking of drama and angst… Similar to the Red Queen, this book is completely cliche and I somehow enjoyed every minute. I really liked Alexa’s character and Damian is completely swoon-worthy despite being riddled with tropes. If you want something fun and easy, then definitely pick up this book!

The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin

Read it? Yes!

This book comes out on January 9th and I couldn’t be more excited that I got to read it. I don’t pick up adult books often (despite being an adult myself), but this one deeply moved me. For days I’ve been thinking about it non-stop and I suspect I’ll keep thinking about it for a long long time. Maybe the rest of my life. I highly HIGHLY recommend it.
