Over at the Bibliophile By the Sea, you can find First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday where everyone shares the first paragraph of the book they’re reading (or about to). In an effort to participate with my mostly audiobook blog, I’ve found a way to share samples of the books I’m listening to through Overdrive.
They give you the first five minutes, which usually turns out to be a REALLY long intro with very dramatic background music, followed by a lot more than just one paragraph. Feel free to fast forward or cut it short. No worries, I get it—ain’t nobody got time for that.
Next week I’ll be listening to…
Once and for All
The lovely Sarah Dessen is back y’all and I’m SO EXCITED to start this! Her books basically helped me survive all of my angsty teen years and the Truth About Forever is the book that really got me hooked on YA books. It’s still one of my favorites (I have GOT to reread that. It’s been ages) and I’ve had a soft spot for Dessen ever since. This has been on hold in my Overdrive account since the moment it was released and I FINALLY got my copy.
The short sample opens on our main character Luna who’s a wedding planner?? Assistant wedding planner??? And she’s helping an emotionally distraught bride who’s only moments away from getting married. Already I’m getting major Wedding Planner vibes and I’m TOTALLY HERE FOR IT.
Then at the end, the weeping Deborah asks “Do you believe that true love can really last forever?” Our narrator has no response and as she starts envisioning a mysterious guy on a beach, WE’RE CUT OFF. Dun dun DUNNNNN!! Love it! Can’t wait for more!
Have you guys read this book yet? What do you think?
Anyone share my teen devotion to Sarah Dessen?
What other books is everyone reading right now?
