This is a special tenth anniversary blog meme created by the lovely Jessica over at Booked J. If you’d like to join the fun, learn more, and check out her answers click HERE!

It’s week nine and you know what that means? THIS IS ALMOST OVER!!!! *Sobs* I’m so sad I won’t have anymore legitimate excuses to flail over my favorite series! Don’t get me wrong, I will anyway, but I’m still sad about this being almost over. This week, we’re getting all nostalgic and listing our favorite quotes from the shadowhunter universe. Don’t mind me as I make it rain tissues over here.

All-time Favorite Shadowhunter Quote

“When you find a man you wish to marry, Tessa, remember this: You will know what kind of man he is not by the things he says, but by the things he does.”
Clockwork Angel

This was a no-brainer for me. I vividly remember reading this in the book and immediately writing it down because I loved it so much. The phrase “actions not words” has become my own personal motto over the years and I even have it tattooed on my wrist. Since this is a variation of that, I loved this quote immediately. It’s so true isn’t it? People can say anything and promise anything, but it’s what they do that really matters. Don’t tell me, show me.

Wow, we’re getting DEEP this week! I promise my other quotes are so heavy because the humor in these books is AMAZING. There are so many spectacular one-liners, it’s almost impossible to choose favorites.

The Mortal Instruments

*I’m only doing the first three because they’re my favorite. Also, I’m lazy and it’s been a long week…*

“Sarcasm is the last refuge of the imaginatively bankrupt.” —City of Bones
As the most sarcastic person ever, I’ve always loved this one.

“You guessed? You must have been pretty sure, considering you could have killed me.”
“I was ninety percent sure.”
“I see,” Clary said. There must have been something in her voice, because he turned to look at her. Her hand cracked across his face, a slap that rocked him back on his heels. He put his hands on his cheek, more in surprise than pain.
“What the hell was that for?”
“The other ten percent.”—City of Bones
This was the first time I really felt the romantic tension between these two and it’s become one of my favorite COB moments.

“Declarations of love amuse me. Especially when unrequited.”—City of Bones
I was always amazed that Clary didn’t know about Simon’s crush and I love the Jace figures it out within moments of first meeting them.

“You’re an idiot.”
“I’ve never claimed to be otherwise.”—City of Bones
Have literally used this in real life.

“We came to see Jace. Is he alright?”
“I don’t know,” Magnus said. “Does he normally just lie on the floor like that without moving?”—City of Ashes
Oh Magnus, I love you.

Isabelle looked dubious. “Mom and Dad won’t be pleased if they find out.”
“That you freed a possible criminal by trading away your brother to a warlock who looks like a gay Sonic the Hedgehog and dresses like the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?” Simon inquired. “No, probably not.”—City of Ashes

“You might want to lie down,” Magnus advised. “I find that it helps when the crushing sense of horrible realization sets in.”—City of Ashes
 Solid advice.

“Did you ever think that in a past life Alec was an old woman with ninety cats who was always yelling at the neighborhood kids to get off her lawn? Because I do.”—City of Glass
Possibly the most accurate description of Alec I’ve ever heard.

“There is no pretending,” Jace said with absolute clarity. “I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I’ll love you then.”—City of Glass

The Infernal Devices

“One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”—Clockwork Angel
Come on, isn’t this every bookworm’s favorite??

“Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry.”—Clockwork Angel
Another good one for all the bookworms.

“Will looked horrified. “What kind of monster could possibly hate chocolate?”—Clockwork Angel

“Are you implying that shreds of my reputation remain intact?” Will demanded with mock horror. “Clearly I have been doing something wrong. Or not something wrong, as the case may be.” He banged on the side of the carriage. “Thomas! We must away at once to the nearest brothel. I seek scandal and low companionship.”—Clockwork Angel
 Will is the freaking best.

“Sometimes, when I have to do something I don’t want to do, I pretend I’m a character from a book. It’s easier to know what they would do.”—Clockwork Angel
Cress from “The Lunar Chronicles” also does this and I find it’s actually helpful in tough situations.

“Demon pox, oh demon pox
Just how is it acquired?
One must go down to the bad part of town
Until one is very tired.
Demon pox, oh demon pox, I had it all along—
Not the pox, you foolish blocks,
I mean this very song—
For I was right, and you were wrong!”—Clockwork Prince

“You speak of sacrifice, but it is not my sacrifice I offer. It is yours I ask of you,” he went on. “I can offer you my life, but it is a short life; I can offer you my heart, though I have no idea how many more beats it shall sustain. But I love you enough to hope that you wil not care that I am being selfish in trying to make the rest of my life—whatever length—happy, by spending it with you. I want to be married to you, Tessa. I want it more than I have ever wanted anything else in my life.” He looked up at her through the veil of silvery hair that fell over his eyes. “That is,” he said shyly, “if you love me, too.”—Clockwork Prince

“They say you cannot love two people equally at once,” she said. “And perhaps for others that is so. But you and Will—you are not like two ordinary people, two people who might have been jealous of each other, or who would have imagined my love for one of them diminished by my love of the other. You merged your souls when you were both children. I could not have loved Will so much if I had not loved you as well. And I could not love you as I do if I had not loved Will as I did.”—Clockwork Princess
Pretty much a poetic summary of this entire dang series. THE FEELSSSSSS!!
