Top Ten Tuesday: Birthmas Wish List

Ten books I want Santa (or anyone) to bring this year

Happy Tuesday fellow book nerds! It’s December 19th which means TOMORROW IS MY BDAY Y’ALL!!

I’m turning the ripe old age of 28. WOOOOOO!!! Officially out of my mid-twenties and into my late twenties. Aging like a fine wine AM I RIGHT?? With my birthday tomorrow and Christmas right around the corner, my holiday wish list has been transformed into a Birthmas list!

1. A New Harry Potter Set

By THE J.K. Rowling

Before anyone panics, I HAVE read these books. Complete HP fan and Hufflepuff over here. They’re not on this list because I haven’t read them yet, but I am in desperate need of a new set. I have my original first three, but the others have magically disappeared through my many moves and I can’t tell you how much that irks me. It drives my brain up the wall knowing I have an incomplete Harry Potter set just sitting around. Right now I’m pretty torn between the two of these and one day soon I’ll just say “SCREW IT” and splurge for one.

2. The Raven Cycle Audiobooks

By Maggie Stiefvater

JUST when you thought I’d go one post without mentioning this series IT’S BACK AGAIN. MWAHAHAHA!!

Originally, I listened to the first three audiobooks through Overdrive, but didn’t feel like waiting for the fourth to become available. Instead I ran out and bought all four books because, let’s face it, I would have bought them anyway. Now I really wish I owned all the audiobooks because Will Patton gives such a stellar performance and I know I would listen to them all the time. Plus, it still kind of bothers me that I’ve read Raven King but haven’t listened to the audiobook yet. I have an Audible account, so I’ll probably dedicate four months to collecting them at some point, but who wants to wait that long??

3. His Dark Materials Omnibus

By Philip Pullman

I read this series AGES ago and have been wanting to reread it before diving into The Book of Dust. Recently I stumbled across this pretty collection randomly on Amazon and now I have grabby hands!

4. An Ember in the Ashes

By Sabaa Tahir

The first two hardcover books are already part of my library, but tHEN THEY WENT AND CHANGED ALL THE COVERS MID-SERIES. 😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠😠 Now when I buy the third one, they won’t match and my eye will never stop twitching, so I need to get the NEW covers for my own sanity.

5. Southern Vampire Mystery Set

By Charlaine Harris

I won’t lie to you, this one made the list only partly because I love the series, but mostly because all the books put together MAKE A RAINBOW. The covers for these are so awesome and I’ve been dying to get my hands on them!

6. Illustrated Harry Potter (Books 1 & 3)

By THE J.K. Rowling and Jim Kay

For Christmas last year, one of my friends gave me book two claiming that she couldn’t find the first one anywhere. Now I’m strangely in need of books one and three??? They’re so freaking beautiful though, I’m determined to get ALL OF THEM.

7. Fables (Vol. 6 and above)

By Various (there are so many books, I didn’t know who to list!)

I don’t read a whole lot of graphic novels (something I want to be better about in the future), but this is a series that I’ve become obsessed with! It’s so good!! One of my best friends gave me the first three for Christmas a few years back and I’ve added a couple to my collection. There’s like 25 of these books though, so I have a ways to go.

8. My Favorite Thing is Monsters

By Emil Ferris

Since I want to be better about reading graphic novels, I’ve been trying to pay more attention to the genre and take note of things that catch my eye. I’m dying to get more involved in the Marvel universe, but I get overwhelmed on where I should start… ANYWAY, I saw this one at my local bookstore not too long ago and IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL. Someday soon I’m getting a copy for myself and reading it, because the art in here is amazing.

9. Percy Jackson and the Olympians

By Rick Riordian

I love this series!! I read it several years ago when it first came out and loved it, but it’s been a hot minute. Rick Riordian has so many books out now that I want to read, but I feel like I need to reread this series again before I do. Even though they’re not all directly related (and correct me if I’m wrong here), each series makes some heavy references and I want to make sure I get all the jokes!

10. Lord of Shadows

By Cassandra Clare

I have yet to read Lady Midnight OR Lord of Shadows, WHICH IS A SIN. I’m planning to remedy this soon. Right now I already have a copy of Lady Midnight and I need to get a copy of this book so it’s ready. Knowing me, I’m going to want to dive into this book THE MOMENT I finish the first Dark Artifices.

Have you read any of these books yet? What did you think?
What are some books you’re wishing for this holiday?
Do you have a Harry Potter set? Which one do you have??

Holler at me in the comments!!

  1. HOLY MOLY WE HAVE THE SAME BIRTHDAY! And we’re turning the same age. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?
How exciting for us! Happy Early Birthday to you!!!

Now that you mention it I ALSO want a new, fancy Harry Potter set because mine are the OG covers and they’re all falling apart…but at the same time I don’t because even though I love the new book covers I’m also like, “WOAH WAIT THOSE AREN’T THE BOOK COVERS.”

I also canNOT believe that you haven’t read any of The Dark Artifices yet! That’s just bonkers! The narrators they got are so fun too, it’s Morena Baccarin for Lady Midnight and she does such a great job but it’s JAMES MARSTERS FOR LORD OF SHADOWS and he is my ultimate babe, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer days, and his voice is so lovely. Though I guess I’m envious of you because you won’t have to wait as long between the end of LoS and the next one which IDK APPARENTLY COMES OUT NEXT DECEMBER. WHAT. That’s so far from now….I somehow thought it was going to be like in the Summer. Wow. I’m upset by this.
Chloe recently posted…It’s Ya Top Ten Tuesday! My Profile

    1. Whaaaaaaaatt?? NO WAY!!!! I never meet anyone else with the same birthday! And the same age too?!? That’s so crazy!!! Happy early birthday to you too! 🎉🎉🎉

And I totally know what you mean about the HP covers! That’s why I’m so upset I lost the other half of my set. Having the original series gave me all the nostalgia feels and I’m sad that’s gone. It’s so weird seeing any other cover on the HP books. But they’re also cool??? I’m confused. Lol.

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!! OMG JAMES MARSTERS?!?!?!?!?! AHHHHHH IM HAVING A MOMENT RIGHT NOW!!!! I have GOT to listen to the audiobooks now! I was planning on just reading them, but not anymore!! *flails* I know isn’t it crazy that I haven’t read the Dark Artifices yet? I had this insane idea that I wanted to read TMI series first. That would take EONS though and now I’m just like SCREW IT 😂

      1. Wait….no. I’m such a goober I keep forgetting how old I am! I’ve done this so many times in the last year, I’m TURNING 27…… I honestly can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten my own damn age. I’m the worst, but SAME BIRTHDAY AND THAT IS STILL FUN!

But also you haven’t read The Mortal Instruments yet?! WOOF. Those are….so many. It’s okay, you’re doing great! You don’t exactly need to read them to understand Lady Midnight/LoS but some of the characters pop up.
I don’t know I’m just VERY EXCITED about all these books you have to read and I hope someone gets them for you ASAP!

        1. Oh no, I’ve read The Mortal Instruments!! LOVE THAT SERIES TO DEATH!!! For some weird reason I wanted to reread them before I started Lady Midnight, which is why I was waiting. But I’m pretty sure I’m crazy because why would I do that to myself??? Lol. Just give me Lady Midnight and James Marsters!! 😆 I’m very excited for all these books too though! 2018 HERE I COME.

And I’ve seriously forgotten my age SO MUCH?!?! Every time it happens I think “IM NOT OLD, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING NOW???” And then I go and tell someone I’m 29 or 26. Lol. But we’re only a year off, that’s so crazy!!! BIRTHDAY TWINS!!

  2. “Birthmas” — I like it! My birthday’s on Friday, so I totally get you 🙂 Happy Birthmas to Us!

My HP books are the original hardcovers and they have been loved TO DEATH. I’d take a new set too! And the illustrated ones are SOOOO gorgeous. They’re on everyone’s list today.

    Happy TTT!

    1. So many December babies today!! Happy early birthday to you!!! 🎈🙌

And I know what you mean!! The HP books that I have left have definitely been loved to death too!

  3. The only books (besides HP) on your list that I’ve read are the Raven Cycle and His Dark Materials, both of which I really enjoyed. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! That’s so exciting that your birthday is so close to Christmas! I would throw a Christmas themed party every year 🙂
